Before starting the whole assembly, we have to build the platform. Seats, pedestal and throttles will be installed on it. The platform where captain, eicas and 1st officer modules are installed on is described "Pedals" section. PLATFORM For an easy transportation, this platform is divided in three parts. Structure is made using metallic squared tubes (20x20x1.5 mm). The list of needed pieces is:
Once welded, the three parts can be seen on the upper side of this picture:
ASSEMBLY After first desig, and in order to increase ergonomy, I've changed relative height between aft and forward platforms. Aft platform has to be lifted 5 cm.:
We can now fix one platform with the others using passing through screws:
When platforms are fitted, we can place eicas module on its position; then the 1st officer module:
Now using screws we fix one wooden module to the other and with the forward platform:
Then we place the captain module and proceed the same way using passing through screws:
Once the three wooden modules are fitted, we can install LCD screens. Control buttons (power, contrast, bright, menu...) will be fitted in the rear of the captain module; we have to substitute the flat cable by a longer one:
We can connect video and power cables, with an identifying label. Every cable must be taken to the bottm of the Eicas module, where the PCs will be installed:
At this point we have the three wooden modules, the screens and their cables on position. On the other hand, we already have the front panels for captain, Eicas, 1st officer, and the ones in front of knees ready to install. These panels can be now placed on their final positions, taking care of avoid damaging any of the thin cables on the back side of them. Now you can connect the flat cables that link interface cards with panels. Befor placing the top module, I use a foam tape to avoid light from backlighting being visible from the outer. I haven't found black one, so I have to paint some parts of it with black paint:
Then we can place the top module over the three modules.
